Speeding Wrong-Way Driver Crashes Into Mansfield Gas Pipeline
Pedestrian Killed in Westlake Crash
Two people died and two others injured following a head-on collision on Interstate 30 in Dallas on Monday morning, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said.
The collision occurred around 2:20 a.m. in the eastern lane of I-30 on Ferguson Road.
At least two vehicles were reportedly destroyed on the highway with extensive damage.
One person was rushed to a hospital in critical condition while the other sustained minor injuries.
The crash led to the closure of eastbound I-30 between the exits of Ferguson Road and Jim Miller Road.
A head-on collision occurs when the front ends of two vehicles hit each other while travelling in opposite directions.
The most common causes of head-on collisions are driving or turning the wrong way, speeding, crossing over the centreline, sleeping while driving, failure to obey road signs, driving under the influence, distractions and bad weather.
Common head-on collision injuries include head, brain, spinal cord and abdominal injuries. Others are pelvic, chest, rib, foot and ankle injuries. Victims of a head-on collision may also experience neck or back pain. In extreme cases, a victim suffers death.
